The Sunsiter
Newspaper will cease publication with
this issue. After many years of
publication, soaring costs played the
major role in the decision of
Publishers John and Nancy Edmiston not
to continue. Increased circulation and
advertising could not combat the
spiraling cost of printing and
production.
“We have
thoroughly enjoyed publishing the
paper the past two and a half years,
and having the privilege of serving
the community”, stated Nancy
Edmiston. “We are grateful to the
outstanding efforts made by our staff
to produce a paper of excellence.”
The Edmistons took over the paper from Howard and
Loraine Shonting in May, 1999, and
proceeded to update the methods,
equipment and production programs. The
paper was able to cut some of the
costs with the new equipment and to
update production. “We were very fortunate to find Denise Eggman, a graphic
designer who greatly improved our
advertisements for the paper.” Nancy
went on to say
“And to have found Rita
Morrison with her vast experience in
the Arizona Newspaper field to work
with us. Adding Barb Radcliff to the
production staff and as senior
proofreader, vastly improved the
quality of the editing.”

Not
since Pearl Harbor has such a
calamitous event been so instrumental
in bringing all the people of this
nation together. The indelible tragedy
of September 11th became an
enormous magnet that pulled 275
million independent, free-spirited
Americans together into one cohesive
force, with one united goal—the
defense of the United States against
unmitigated terrorism.
